November 14 is the United Nations World Day for Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. It is observed on the third Sunday of November to remember the many millions killed and injured on the world's roads, together with their families, friends and many others who are also affected. It is also a Day on which the emergency services are thanked and we reflect on the tremendous burden and cost of this daily continuing disaster to families, communities and countries, and on ways to halt it.

This day was initiated by road victims in 1993 and adopted by the UN on 26th October 2005. In 2015 we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of observing the World Day internationally and the 10th anniversary of its adoption by the United Nations. Road safety begins early.
