Today is the World Food Day, celebrated around the world on October 16th. It is a day to honor the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. In the US and Canada it is a day of action against hunger. Did you know that almost 5 million children under the age of 5 die of malnutrition-related causes every year. It is possible to end hunger because the world produces enough food to feed every person on the planet. However, one-third of the food produced for human consumption every year is lost or wasted. Let's do our part to help avoid food wastage and help in whatever way we can to help feed the hungry.

This year's World Food Day is celebrating family farmers for growing our food and for caring for the earth. Join in a toast to thank the farmers that work hard every day to ensure that our food is grown with care and is healthy for us to eat. Read more at
