UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science February 11th
We all know the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math for all children. Unfortunately, countries still show a great imbalance in the participation of girls in STEM based learning and education. As per a report by the World Economic Forum, even though just as many girls as boys are completing high-school level education, and more women graduate from university worldwide than men, women still remain a minority in the STEM fields. In order to bridge this gap with more focus on girls in STEM, United Nations has declared February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
"On this International Day, I urge commitment to end bias, greater investments in science, technology, engineering and math education for all women and girls as well as opportunities for their careers and longer-term professional advancement so that all can benefit from their ground-breaking future contributions." - UN Secretary-General, António Guterres
