In 1204 a man fully united his clan and began an empire, he conquered twice as much land as any man ever before him or since, he had many descendants who would rule lands all over the globe, the last descendant was finally deposed and ended the reign in a much smaller land. That year was 1920. His name was Genghis Khan. One of his more fascinating quotations was: “If you're afraid - don't do it, - if you're doing it - don't be afraid!” This week, among the new releases, there is an exciting new book: Genghis Kahn. It will capture your kids imagination and bring this history to life.
With Houston, Texas under water amidst the devastating hurricane last week we recommended the book: Hurricanes. We hope all that selected it enjoyed reading it together and putting the storm in some perspective. To take a further step down that road try this week's Editor’s Pick: Maddy’s Texas Diary. It is an excellent read about the history of the state of Texas. As your kids see it on the news, help them learn the amazing place Houston occupies in our nation’s past and why the loss is felt by so many as they struggle to rebuild.
